It's Team Hurricane Jimmy here.....
So hello fellow readers whether you play ygo or not......
So today I'm gonna be talkin about the card "Solidarity" (even though I never liked it).....
Let's look at it's effect first of all:
Spell - Continuous
If you have only 1 original (printed) Type of monster in your Graveyard, face-up monsters you control with the same Type gain 800 ATK.
And some theme decks tend to have only one type of monster within the deck eg. Spellcasters, Winged Beasts, Machines and so forth....... But other decks don't, For example coz I run Giant Rat which is a Beast within a Machina Gear (Machina + Ancient Gears) Deck which are machines I should not run solidarity coz I could end up having two types of monsters in my graveyard........
And what's even worse is that it stacks.......
Example:
Activate 1st Solidarity, Here ya go 800 ATK - Monsters Say YAY!
Activate 2nd Solidarity, Here's another 800 ATK - Monsters say YIPEEE!!!!
Thats 1600 extra atk!!!!! - Opponent's Monsters say FML! (FK My Life)
Solidarity can allow monsters with weak att to take down bigger monsters.....
In the current Meta, Attacking is the best way to win and to overcome synchros with ease is to have bigger beatsticks than the opponent........
Solidarity is especially popular in Machina Gadgets......It even comes with the structure deck : Machina Mayhem........ In The 2010 Washington DC YCS, Peter Cheng a user of Machina Gadgets came 1st in the top 32..... He ran Solidarity over more flexible cards such as book of moon or shrink......... Book of Moon is surely one of the most flexible cards in the meta but Cheng chose Solidarity over Book of Moon.....
In my preference, Solidarity is a bad card and a bad topdeck overall.... Book of Moon and Smashing Ground are better cards..... But it all comes down to player's preference... Cheng used it and he came 1st..... So is it a good card afterall?
So what do you think? Post your comments and opinions on our youtube channel.......

It's easy to see why the card is good. It turns the smallest of monsters into beatsticks. The only problem with running this card is that you have to focus your deck on monster types. It could also be a really big dead draw later in the game.
ReplyDeleteThe main issue with this card are synchros and fusions. If you do happen to synchro summon, you have to make sure that the monster summoned is the same type as the rest of the deck, or else solidarity will lose its effect when it's sent to the graveyard.
The reason people don't run solidarity a lot is because Book Of Moon is just worth the 3 slots. Also, a lot of archetypes have different type monsters (X-sabers, Infernity, Ice barrier, blah, blah, blah). Solidarity is only good in Machina Gadgets, since the gadgets really do need the extra attack power. It's pretty much useless in other decks.
There's tons of cards that can replace Solidarity. I find that if I ever need a huge beatstick to taunt the enemy, I'll just synchro summon (or use Gale) rather than depend on a spell card. Cards like Book Of Moon are non-situational and are splashable in tons of decks. You really can't compare the two cards because they are quite different.
So yeah, hope that helps out at all.
